Dear Friends,

Please be reminded that tomorrow will be an essential event when the city council will hear your comments. All of us have an important role to play in redeeming it. Imagine telling yourself that you were once a part of history when it does become fruitful to all of us.

Once again, this is a re-post of Councilor Perruzza's invitation to be part of the evaluation process. All of the information is below:

On September 6, 2023, I moved a motion requesting City staff to prioritize the evaluation of 3100 Weston Road for a heritage designation.

On October 10, 2023, City staff brought a report to the Toronto Preservation Board that amends the Listing Statement at 3100 Weston Rd to include the former St Basil-the Great-College School and the Marian Shrine of Gratitude. Staff determined that before a report on the heritage designation can be completed, an amended Listing Statement could provide greater clarity to inform any development plans. Any potential development application for the site must submit a Heritage Impact Assessment that considers all elements of the Listing Statement. Hence, including the Shrine there is an essential step in preserving it.

The Toronto Preservation Board approved this report, and it is coming to the Etobicoke Community Council on Monday, October 16. The council needs to hear from you. You can attend in person, virtually, or submit written comments that will form the public record on this item.
