Dear Friends,

We can't help but thank God for our many blessings these past few weeks. We are happy to inform everyone that things are moving along quickly regarding the steps involved in designating it as a heritage site. Please do not tire of helping by using your voice for this vital cause.  Below is a notice of invitation from Councilor Anthony Perruzza for Monday's meeting at Etobicoke Civic Centre.

On September 6, 2023, I moved a motion requesting City staff to prioritize the evaluation of 3100 Weston Road for a heritage designation.

On October 10, 2023, City staff brought a report to the Toronto Preservation Board that amends the Listing Statement at 3100 Weston Rd to include the former St Basil-the Great-College School and the Marian Shrine of Gratitude. Staff determined that before a report on the heritage designation can be completed, an amended Listing Statement could provide greater clarity to inform any development plans. Any potential development application for the site must submit a Heritage Impact Assessment that considers all elements of the Listing Statement. Hence, including the Shrine there is an essential step in preserving it.

The Toronto Preservation Board approved this report, and it is coming to the Etobicoke Community Council on Monday, October 16. The council needs to hear from you. You can attend in person, virtually, or submit written comments that will form the public record on this item.
