The Tyabb Airshow as we know, as it stands it will not be going ahead next year, 2020. I am so sad to hear this news. I have been working across multiple projects, so have been a little MIA on socials so I am here to share the memo, the news that was released at 1pm today.

As a Tyabb local, living my life & business in the little town of Tyabb I am very passionate about the community, seeing everyone happy & being able to enjoy the airfield. I love this little slice of aviation we are lucky to have. It not only gives many people access to their passion & hobby of flying, it holds such a dense history, provides a space for emergency training/landings/refuels, is a place of daily business & not to mention holds the bi-annual Airshow amongst other events. The events that raise large sums of money for places like the CFA, our sporting clubs & hospitals along with charities such as Head Space & Make a Wish!

People come from far & wide (inc international) to attend the PAC bi-annual Airshow, I even know of Tyabb locals that Air BnB to accomodate people wanting to come purely for the fact of the Airshow!
.
In a sense I feel I failed. Did our petition of over 16k signatures not send the message that we all support Peninsula Aero Club ? Did our attendance to the community meeting to have our say & show support not mean a thing? I understand that there is a whole lot more red tape to it but I wonder if the Shire feel a sense of achievement as it's almost like they set out on a mission to be kill joys. Now we don't have the opportunity to attend this iconic local event, the businesses in town miss out on the tourists, the charities won't be presented with the sum of regular funds raised at this event & most devastating the people & pilots that look forward to hosting, running & flying at the Airshow
.
Could have I done more to help? Could we, as a community done something else? I'm not sure, I just did what felt natural to me with the time I can commit , due to the passion of helping others, especially community based issues & my love for aviation.
.
The people of PAC are absolutely devastated & hopefully with time - proving enough time is left, something will change & the Bi Annual Airshow can go ahead.
PAC has seen it's fair share of saga's over time but since the whole "stop work letters" were sent to the airfield's businesses it seems a can of worms opened up, as Mr Hoskings stated like a grenade had it's pin pulled & boom.
.
Well, I best get back to it, I will be contactable via FB messenger this evening as I continue creative.
.
You can head over to the Peninsula Aero Club facebook page to read the message from Jack Vevers, the President of PAC
