Recently Inouk one of the three remaining captive orcas at Marineland Antibes in France has died. Now more than ever we need voices to support the cetaceans who remain in captivity. Kshamenk remains alone, performing daily for audiences. He is the only orca left alive in captivity in South America. Captain Paul Watson and Lamya Essemlali, the President of Sea Shepherd France recently met with the French Minister for the Sea and Biodiversity Hervé Berville to discuss finding a solution to protecting the two surviving Orcas at Marineland Antibes. We are proposing a sea pen sanctuary in France and we are working with an international group of experts and advisors to make such a sanctuary a reality. While Kshamenk may not be a suitable candidate for release to the wild, a sea sanctuary such as this would provide a hospitable ocean habitat and allow him to retire from the gruelling decades of performing at Munro Marino in Argentina.
