My 12 year old son came up with a joke ... what do you call a glass of eggnog spiked with vodka?
Hedgenog!
He is better at singing though ... in a tangent to the usual theme of these updates, here is a bit of Christmas - him singing Once in Royal David's City - the photos are mine, the arrangement, well, if you like it, do feel moved to buy it from the link on the video!
And talking of buying ... as you may know, I write books! And while I love doing this with a passion, it does not make me a great deal of money ... so any sales are greatly appreciated and make it easier for me to dedicate time to working on hedgehogs!
Most recently I wrote Linescapes - Robert Macfarlane said "In Linescapes, Hugh Warwick has written a gloriously unclassifiable book, a manifesto-adventure-exploration-reflection that manages to be political, passionate, perceptive – and very funny" - which does not tell you that it is about habitat fragmentation and how we can manage our landscape to better help hedgehogs!
Prior to that I wrote a short book on the iconography of hedgehogs, called, imaginatively, Hedgehog - lots of pictures, many my own, looking at the weird and wonderful ways we have incorporated the hedgehog into our lives.
Then there was The Beauty in the Beast - possibly the most fun to research as I went and met 15 people a bit like me - passionate advocates for wildlife.
And it all began with A Prickly Affair - the natural history of hedgehogs told through passion, obsession and jokes! And this year saw it re-published with a 'Prickly Epilogue' - updating the developments over the last 10 years.
So - that is your Christmas sorted - music from my boy Pip and some books from me! Your support is really felt and much appreciated ... more soon!
