531 Signatures! Well done!

We wanted to give you an update on whats been happening. We've had a meeting with Victorious Trust to discuss the proposal and we also met with Mr Beaty and the Board of Governors on Friday.

There are a few questions that have come off the back of this petition that we would like to help answer

  • This petition has not been produced by Aldwyns but by parents of children at Aldwyns. Change.org does ask for money to promote the petition but you can scroll to the bottom to skip this if anyone asks.
  • Aldwyn School does have concerns with Tameside’s proposal and these concerns have been expressed to Tameside Local Authority. As yet, the Local Authority have not visited the school site to meet with Aldwyn School in reference to Thomas Ashton School moving to Lumb Lane. Despite this, the school and the school Governors are actively seeking a meeting with Tameside to provide an opportunity to put across the concerns of the school and to discuss how the shared site could work with as little impact as possible on the pupils of Aldwyn, should the proposal go ahead.
  • Tameside Local Authority have written the proposal and they will decide if it goes ahead. Aldwyn School does not decide the outcome.
  • As detailed in the proposal, high school age children will not be educated on the Lumb Lane site. They will remain at Thomas Ashton School on Bennett Street in Hyde.
  • The recent improvement to Aldwyns school fence has nothing to do with this proposal. This improvement was instructed after the tragic incident which happened in Southport in August. The school site is now safer than it had been previously.

We will update you as we hear more
