The Issue

Help Ryder & His Sisters Relocate for Life-Saving Medical Care in Akron, Ohio

My 12-year-old son, Ryder, is fighting Sanfilippo Syndrome — a rare and terminal disease. Every day matters for his quality of life. We need to relocate to Akron, Ohio, where Ryder can receive the specialized care he desperately needs and deserves and where I can support my children as a full-time caregiver.

Why This Matters:

Right now, we live in Washington, hours away from the only children’s hospital in the state. Ryder spends up to 80 hours a month in a wheelchair just traveling to and from appointments that are rarely coordinated. This takes a painful toll on his body and on his siblings’ lives.

Akron Children’s Hospital, on the other hand, specializes in Ryder’s condition. There, his care can be coordinated in one place, reducing travel time and giving him comfort, dignity, and stability. Ryders sister will also be receiving therapy at akron and are part of the siblings for a cause. In Ohio, I would also qualify to be paid as Ryder’s caregiver — something Washington does not allow. That means I could support my family financially while still giving my kids the care and attention they need.

This move is not just about geography — it’s about survival, quality of life, and stability for Ryder and his sisters.

What We’re Asking:

Please sign this petition to show support for our relocation. Your voices will help us demonstrate to the courts and lawmakers that Ryder deserves better care, and that children with rare diseases should never be denied access to life-improving treatment.

Together, we can make sure Ryder and his sisters have the chance at a safer, healthier, and more stable future.

➡️ Sign and share to help us fight for Ryder’s care.
