This officer, formerly of IMPD, near where I lived for a long time did 4…count em 1,2,3,4 years for killing multiple people while being drunk on the job. He proceeded to get another dui out on bond……my wife running scared from police, who as a child handed her back over to her abuser time and again, gets 40 years for knocking an officer on his back. I don’t ever condone what she did but to see the difference in the two; shouldn’t the officer have been held to a higher standard if they’re going to punish a person worse for simply injuring an officer? They both could be considered habitual so that’s no excuse for the difference in sentencing. When it boils down to it we know exactly what it was….Taira’s happened in a small town with a good ol boy system, the trial should’ve been moved because no jury or judge could ever be partial with the amount of pre trial news coverage her case got and her charge shouldn’t have been assault 1 because there was no intent and the IMPD officer had the courts and justice system helping him the entire time. While she sits and prays she will be free before it’s too late this officer has been free for years now after killing two people and injuring others, even after his own cop buddies tried to cover for him…make this make sense and #freeTaira already….she’s done enough time. She’s changed herself big time and has been in the honors program over 8 years. The officer she injured no longer has to work(“permanently disabled”)as an officer and spends his time hunting, fishing and lifting weights. If this former IMPD officer can get another chance after doing 4 years for killing multiple people Taira should get another chance after injuring one and spending the next 9 years of her life turning to faith and finding a support system that she can finally rely on, on the outside…..please #freeTaira
