Jefferson County is currently facing a multitude of crises from a drug epidemic, homelessness,  domestic violence, etc. The Village of West Carthage has not been exempt from the negative effects of these problems. 

Recently the Jefferson County Department of Social Services has placed numerous sex offenders of all LEVELS in The Pleasant Night Inn. The Inn is located less than 1000 ft from the nearby popular Getman Park in West Carthage. Many children and families utilize this park for its baseball fields, playground, and soon to be summer recreation program. 

We would like your support in asking the Jefferson County Legislature to work with The State of NY to permanently ban all sex offenders from being placed near parks, schools and daycare centers in West Carthage and surrounding communities. (Currenty NYS Law dictates parks and playgrounds are NOT included in distance restrictions for Sex Offenders)
