Help protect tenants rights from Umbrella Properties discrimination and retaliations.

The Issue

In Springfield, Oregon, tenants of properties managed by Umbrella Property Management face significant challenges as their property manager consistently fails to uphold the terms of lease agreements. The lack of timely and adequate repair services to tenant units and common areas has created a hostile living environment that must be addressed immediately.

For many residents, structural issues persist for extended periods, despite multiple work orders and promises for resolution. Reports indicate that the management team often ignores maintenance requests entirely, or technicians fail to appear for scheduled appointments, leaving tenants without relief or recourse.

This neglect not only violates lease agreements but also jeopardizes the safety and well-being of all tenants. The behavior of the management team, marked by intimidation and derogatory remarks, further exacerbates the distress faced by residents, discouraging them from voicing their concerns and seeking essential repairs.

Management has:      made threats implying that they will evict tenants who they deam as "bad," make slanderous and hateful comments about tenants' age, race, sexual orientation, religion, and disabilities; shown favoritism to other tenants by allowing them to break complex rules without recourse while denying others the use of amenities provided to all tenants under the terms of our lease.

One member of management even drives around in their spare time off the clock engaging in harassing and intimidating behavior, that borders stalking.  One manager has been known to just park and block the complex driveways for hours (until as late as 11 pm) while watching tenants through their windows with a cellphone, camera, and binoculars.  Management also brings a very large menacing dog inside common areas such as the office and laundry room and patrols the premises with the animal several times a day and night.  The staff have cornered innocent residents in areas such as the laundry room encouraging the animal to be aggressive meanwhile using profanity and threats in order to intimidate residents from using the room for the entire outlined hours.

Tenants are entitled to a safe and functional living environment, and Umbrella Property Management must be held accountable for ensuring these basic rights. We urge the immediate restructuring of maintenance protocols, guarantee transparent communication between management and tenants, and institute a reliable system for dispatching qualified technicians to address issues promptly and effectively.
