This gigantic small-leaved fig tree in the IRT development site 'Milton Meadows' is threatened by the inadequate tree protection zone being shown on the plans.

Local arborist Patrick Faulconer suggests that it requires a good 50m clear all around it. He says the 30m being proposed is not sufficient for this tree  (which he thinks may be the biggest in NSW if not in Australia). The concern is that with buildings and roadways encroaching on its root zone the tree may be slowly killed. 

Work has already begun on the development... we need to act now! 

To provide this tree with some legal protection under Australian law, 
the signatories to this petition request Shoalhaven City Council to grant heritage status to the giant fig tree in the IRT Milton Meadows development site.
