I submitted a report to a Coalition Policy Development Committee on Insurance which identified 12 key issues around the increasing premiums, as well as 8 suggestions I believe could be useful in helping to address the issue of unaffordable, unavailable, insurance. I have committed to a round-table with the Qld Government & the ICA immediately after the election. To date, I have been disappointed at the ongoing refusal by the ICA to acknowledge there is a problem. I sincerely hope they will see the value in this roundtable as we cannot continue to point fingers; we must work together on solutions. Here in Leichhardt we have thousands of people - pensioners, families, self-funded retirees & investors who are stretched to their financial and emotional limit because they can’t afford to insure their property. The Coalition’s White Paper on the development of N. Australia will give communities the certainty & stability needed to grow. I will ensure every case study is taken into account.
