Breaking News: Mom’s Estate Sues Episcopal Church

Eric BonettiAlexandria, VA, United States
Apr 3, 2020

Sometimes, the dead do come back to haunt us. Not literally, of course, but in other ways.

In the case of my Mom, her estate has finalized the paperwork needed to sue Grace Episcopal Church Alexandria, the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, and several named individuals.

Due to the current state of emergency in PA, things may not be official for another week or so. But I have alerted the media and given courtesy notice to legal counsel for the diocese and church.

It should prove interesting to hear the church explain why it thought it was okay to try to subpoena a dying woman in violation of state law. Or why it thinks it’s okay to have called her — or anyone else — a “domestic terrorist.” Or how the name of her favorite classic rock band, the Killer B’s, which she used as a collective pseudonym, was somehow a threat. (It’s also used by several local professional sports teams.)

Best of all, it will be interesting to hear the church explain, in open court, the details behind perjuring priest Bob Malm’s sworn statement that Mom, or someone claiming to be her, “time after time” made appointments with Bob, only to no-show.

Needless to say, I’ve already made sure local reporters know, and I plan to make sure the transcripts are widely available.

Sooner or later, the truth will out.
