Help Keep Protections For Florida Key Deer!

The current administration is recommending that the Florida Key deer an iconic species found in the state’s southern-most islands lose protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

We are calling on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to establish new rules and regulations that grant the Key deer the same protections as the ESA currently does. Florida is the only place on earth that Key deer are found and there are only about 1,000 left in existence.

The Florida Key Deer faces a multitude of threats from poaching, vehicle strikes, habitat loss, rising sea levels, human habituation, and screwworm infestation. Removing protections that have helped to recover and sustain this species thus far is a slap in the face to true conservationists. We as Floridians care about the wildlife that this great state has and we want to work together to protect and restore the species most at risk of disappearing forever.
