This petition was written to raise awareness about the Florida Key deer's current threats and show wildlife officials and our government agencies that people are passionate about protecting this iconic species.

Florida is the only place on earth where Key deer are found, and there are only about 1,000 left in existence. 

The Florida Key Deer faces many threats from poaching, vehicle strikes, habitat loss, rising sea levels, human habituation, and screwworm infestation. We, the people, need to defend Key deer by ensuring that the protections that have helped recover and sustain them remain intact. We care about the wildlife that inhabits this State and want to work with Florida wildlife officials and government agencies to protect and restore species most at risk of disappearing forever, like the Florida Key deer.
