Help Jamaicans Devastated by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa — Let Them Find Safety and Rebui
The Issue
My name is Pauline Sterling, and I am deeply concerned for the people of Jamaica who have been devastated by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa on October 28, 2025. As someone who cares about justice, compassion, and the bonds between our nations, I believe the UK can and should help those who have lost everything. I started this petition to urge the government to open a humanitarian resettlement programme so families in desperate need can find safety, hope, and a chance to rebuild their lives.
Category 5 Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica on October 28, 2025, leaving families homeless, communities flooded, and lives shattered. The UK has a moral duty to stand with Jamaica in this time of crisis. We’re calling on the UK Government to open a humanitarian visa and resettlement programme so Jamaicans who have lost everything can find safety and rebuild their lives. Please sign and share to show your support and compassion. 🇯🇲❤️🇬🇧
On October 28, 2025, Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, leaving thousands of families without homes, possessions, or, in some cases, loved ones. Communities are flooded, livelihoods destroyed, and many have nowhere safe to go.
The UK and Jamaica share a deep bond — one built through history, family, and the strength of the Caribbean spirit that helped build modern Britain. Now, Jamaica needs the UK’s compassion and solidarity more than ever.
We are calling on the UK Government to:
1. Create an emergency humanitarian visa or resettlement programme for Jamaicans displaced by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.
2. Provide temporary housing and support for those arriving in the UK under this programme.
3. Work alongside the Jamaican Government, charities, and diaspora organisations to identify and assist the most vulnerable families.
The UK has shown generosity before — offering refuge to people fleeing war and disaster in Ukraine and Afghanistan. It is only right to extend that same humanity to Jamaica, a country that has given so much to the UK for generations.
Please sign and share this petition to urge the UK Government to act now — before more lives are lost, and more families are left without hope. Together, we can help Jamaicans rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
