To all of our supporters,
Great to see that over 300 people have signed the petition and are getting behind this hugely important cause.
Please help us to spread the word further, and send the petition link to your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and of course, disability advocates. Thank you!
The IDEAS petition and campaign stand for equal access to information and services for ALL people with disability in Australia. I recently spoke out to the media about the importance of providing information that enables people with disability to make independent life choices.
You can read my interview with Pro Bono Australia here: https://probonoaustralia.com.au/news/2017/11/disability-advocacy-group-fights-restore-state-funding/
Please note that the spokesperson from the Department of Family and Community Services who told Pro Bono News that there would be "more funding available for disability advocacy supports than ever before" under the NDIS not only remained unnamed, but didn’t provide any evidence that this is true. It’s simply not true.
You can listen to my radio interview with ABC Riverina here: https://www.facebook.com/abcriverina/videos/1648673638489203/
I also spoke to The Area News about the importance of disability advocacy funding: http://www.areanews.com.au/story/5044688/government-urged-to-re-think-cuts-to-riverina-disability-services/
You can read my LinkedIn blog about equal access to information and community participation here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/lets-continue-provide-equal-access-information-community-diana-palmer/
Don't forget to spread the word and encourage as many people as possible to sign our petition!
Thank you for your support and commitment to helping Australians with disability live the life they choose.
Diana Palmer, Executive Officer of IDEAS and the team
P.S. I have also included an IDEAS video from earlier in the year in this update. The video features a father talking about the value of accessing relevant and accurate information about his daughter's cerebral palsy.
