Happy Friday everyone! As we head into the weekend here is a quick way you can make a big impact for getting safer streets, better crosswalks, pedestrian islands, protected bikes, speed bumps and much more-- take 3 minutes and call the Mayor's office and say you support safer streets.
A quick polite call makes a huge impression. Here's how you do it:
1) Dial (510) 238-3141 and a very nice person working the front desk will answer
2) Introduce yourself saying "Hi I am __(your name)___, and I live in ___(your Oakland neighborhood)___ and I'm calling to ask the Mayor to make our streets safer for everyone to get around!
3) The person at the Mayor's office will likely say something like "ok, I'll pass along the message, is there anything else I can help you with?" And if you want you can say "thank you, that's it" and hang up, OR you can elaborate on an improvement you'd like to see in your neighborhood.
That's really all there is to it and the Mayor's office getting even just 5 or so calls from Oaklanders this morning will help boost safer streets higher up the to-do list!
Thanks for taking action this morning. Together we can make Oakland safer for everyone.
