Hello everyone!

I would like to start by thanking everyone who signed this petition. We are so close to our first goal of 50 signatures, being at 45 signatures. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Our original plan of contacting several North Carolina Senators and Representatives was a strong idea, and it was worth the time. In February of 2023, we sent our first round of letters. We received a few replies from a number of Representatives or Senators, however this round did not make it far. Our second round, which we sent out to 150 total Congresspeople, was considerably more successful. Not long after, we received responses from multiple Senators and Representatives willing to help.

Representative Kelly Alexander, her assistants, and the draft department were very quick and explementary in supporting our project. Her team filed NC House Bill 978 which is dubbed the "Litter Reduction Act of 2024", and is exactly what this Project intended to push for.
