Help Funk and Fermentation Open in Elmwood Village

The Issue

Funk and Fermentation is a small Natural Wine Shop (hopefully) opening soon on the corner of West Delavan Ave + Elmwood Ave in the heart of Elmwood Village.

The hopes of opening Funk and Fermentation in Elmwood Village is to bring a wide variety of Natural Wines not currently available in the Buffalo area to the most bustling restaurant and shopping district in the city.

Every neighborhood should have a friendly little wine shop - which is all we are asking to do at F+F.

It is extremely difficult to get a retail liquor license in New York State - especially if there are other shops nearby that sell a vaguely similar product.

The best chances of Funk and Fermentation getting a liquor license is to show that we have enough support from the neighborhood and the city as a whole. Support to bring something new and different to the area and neighborhood directly. A shop you can stop at on the way to a friend, or home to make dinner, or sit on your porch and relax (a plenty in Elmwood Village).

Funk and Fermentation is not trying to compete with already standing and successful businesses, but trying to work together to make sure there are products that everyone in the Elmwood Village will be excited about.

Funk and Fermentation plans to sell only Natural Wines, rice wines + wine based amaros - no liquor. There are plenty of stores that stock liquor nearby for local residents to frequent and support!

The owner has a long history of working in retail and the Craft Beer Industry - excelling in sales, marketing, customer service + management. She is also born and raised in Buffalo, and currently living in the Elmwood Village.

A small business loan has been taken out to make extensive renovations to the space, as well as provide capital for opening inventory and various opening costs. That being said, it is crucial that the space opens and is granted a liquor license from the SLA for the business owner's livelihood.

We are asking for your signature today to help ensure that Funk and Fermentation will be able to open as a successful and welcoming neighborhood establishment.

Thank you so much and keep up the funk!
