The International Primate Trade sends over 32,000 non-human primates to the US every year, these primates are all kept in captivity in shocking conditions. Primates are even eaten and sold to owners who can't take the proper care of them. Now, social media channels targeted at an extremely young audience and even have macaques in human clothes and eating chocolate and sugar; foods which are horrifically dangerous to their infant species. Monkey hate is also a disgusting issue that must be tackled and made illegal. This is where people will film and upload videos of typically baby monkeys being tortured, boiled alive, sliced and crushed for entertainment to the others in the monkey hate community. Comments on these videos will never even contain a single concern about the animals rights and will simply be requests on how to kill the monkey in the next video. And numbers of what used to be common primates are now depleting rapidly - in 1970, there were 20,000 Barbary macaques in the wild, now, in 2025 there are a mere 7500 remaining due to them being exchanged to be cooked into foods like kebabs, and tested for medicinal properties, although there are plenty more cruelty free alternatives. If we don't act soon, they may become extinct. Primates are sentient beings, with rights - and we are distant relatives of them.
