We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe beginning to the New Year.

Your support throughout what was a harrowing time for wildlife in 2025 was greatly appreciated.

With that in mind, it is only fitting to share with you the total recorded Wellington Road wildlife casualties for 2025. Please note that these figures reflect only the incidents we are aware of; we understand the true number is likely significantly higher.

The total wildlife roadstrike casualties on Wellington Road for 2025 stands at 490.

This includes the following species:

Eastern Grey Kangaroos – 262
Swamp Wallabies – 51
Ringtail Possums – 50
Bare-nosed Wombats – 28
Brushtail Possums – 18
Native Birds – 49
Echidnas – 3
This total also includes animals such as deer, foxes, turtles, and several rarer native species. However, the species listed above represent those most frequently impacted, day after day, along this stretch of road.

We are still awaiting meaningful action from local governments and councils. There is an urgent need for improved protections to safeguard our native wildlife and, importantly, the wider community as well.
