The victim, Lanre Ilori, calls for sex offender, Richmond Garupe Butler from Sacramento, California to face the full consequences of his repeated sex abuse of her and several individuals who were abused while they were minors. Butler is currently in jail awaiting trial but has been consistently delaying the court proceedings. This has aroused the anger of his victims.

According to 27-year-old Ilori, she met Butler in 2011 at the local church when she was 16 years old and while her mother worked at the church. She said during this time, Butler portrayed himself as a father figure and manipulated her into trusting him. He raped her multiple times between 2012 to 2013, by convincing her they were in a relationship. But that’s not all.  Butler also raped and molested Ilori’s younger sister.  

Butler has a long and disturbing history of sexually abusing minors. Originally from Liberia, after moving to Ghana, he migrated to Ohio after alleged sexual acts with a minor in Ghana. He came with the name Cesar Wellington. In 2003, he was arrested in Ohio for lewd acts with a minor.  Sadly, the case was thrown out because there was not enough evidence, due to the parents backing out.  Following this incident, Butler relocated to California and it was there in 2007, he raped 7-year-old Chioma Abara (Real Name Redacted) on multiple occasions.  Charges were never brought up due to her being unaware of what sexual assault was. It was only during sexual education class, did she realized that she was sexually assaulted.  In 2020, Chioma summoned the courage to report it.

In 2012, Butler was arrested for raping a different 16-year-old  and accepted a plea deal of 1 year in jail if he registered as a sex offender. He was again arrested in 2020 for sexually molesting a 12-year-old boy.  There are nine other victims of Butler’s sexual felonies who have chosen to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation. 

Ilori, however,  is understandably irate with Butler’s ploy to delay court proceedings for his trial. She said: “It's very disheartening and disappointing that an unconscionable monster, willing to sexually attack children, is able to get away with it for so long. This delay questions the reason why America has a judicial system at all. I just want a criminal to go to jail for his crimes. All I want to do is protect children from what happened to me.”
