Help bring "the Equalizer" back!!!!
The Issue
After five seasons, CBS chose to cancel "The Equalizer" without a proper goodbye. This show deserves the opportunity to conclude its narrative with the dignity it has earned. Robyn, Marcus, Harry, Mel, Aunt Vi, & Dee have become a part of my Sunday night routine. I realize that all good things come to an end, but after five years you are invested in each character, and an abrupt end feels so unfinished.
The show averaged a little over 5 million viewers every week in its original 9 p.m. Sunday time slot until CBS decided to push the show to 10 pm and later 10:45 pm in order to promote the new show Watson. Eventually, viewership dropped because it was hard to keep up with the changing time slots. CBS can now blame the cancellation on a dip in the ratings even though the changing time slots caused the issue.
I'm sure there were financial issues to consider as well, but if there is a way to negotiate a more cost-effective deal in order to squeeze in one more season, that would be awesome for those of us who are loyal fans.
This petition reflects the sentiments of countless fans who have been captivated by the show's brilliance. The craft of storytelling, the dedication of the actors, the intricate plots, and the action packed stunts have kept audiences on the edge of their seats. We have laughed, cried, and celebrated with the characters, feeling a part of their world.
The cast and creators deserve the chance to bid an appropriate goodbye to their loyal fan base. A 6th and final season would allow for each character to have a fitting end to their journey.
We urge CBS to listen to our voices, to recognize the passion fans have, and to grant "The Equalizer" the 6th and final season that it so richly deserves.
