Their territory and the very nest tree where they have lovingly raised their young face a direct threat from the proposed Moon Camp development project. As a resident of this county, I cherish seeing them and other wildlife thrive. Sacrificing our natural forest for vacation homes, parking lots, and boat slips cannot justify the destruction it would entail. Continued encroachment endangers not only the bald eagles—protected by law—but also the multitude of other wildlife species that call this place home.

The planned development would lead to irreparable harm to our local ecosystem, particularly in the destruction of bald eagle habitats. This area is a crucial habitat for these and other migratory birds. Their removal would cause unthinkable damage to the delicate balance of nature here, threatening species that depend on this pristine environment for survival.

It is imperative that an environmental impact study be conducted before any further steps are taken with this project. San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and the developers must be held accountable for the potential devastation to the local wildlife population. There is no excuse to bypass such crucial assessments which are designed to safeguard our environment and protect wildlife across the United States.

Join in urging the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and developers to halt the Moon Camp development until an exhaustive and transparent environmental impact study is undertaken. It’s not just about saving a pair of eagles; it’s about preserving the biodiversity and natural splendor that enrich this region and support all local life. Your signature can make a difference. Please sign this petition to ensure that this invaluable piece of our country's natural heritage remains untarnished for future generations. Please visit The Friends Of Big Bear Valley for updates, information, and plans to preserve the habitat and protect the eagles and wildlife.
