Help Me and My Husband Find Safety: An Iranian Woman's Appeal for Urgent International Protection

I am asking the international community to hear my story, recognize the risks my husband and I face, and help us find a safe and lawful path to protection.

My Story: A Life in Uncertainty and Fear

My name is Ghazaleh Parsaei. I am an Iranian woman currently living in Georgia with my husband, Arash Majdi.

I am writing this petition because I fear for my safety and future, and because my husband and I have reached a point where we urgently need international attention and assistance.

My life has been profoundly affected by my political background and activities opposing the Islamic Republic of Iran. I have experienced serious difficulties because of my political involvement, and I have received threatening messages connected to my activism. I fear that returning to Iran could expose me to persecution, detention, or other serious harm.

My husband has also participated in protests against the Iranian government, including demonstrations outside the Iranian Embassy in Georgia. We believe that our political activities have increased our concerns about the consequences we could face if we were forced to return to Iran.

Rejected Asylum Claims and an Uncertain Future in Georgia

My husband and I sought protection in Georgia because we were afraid of what could happen to us in Iran. However, our asylum claims have been rejected, leaving us facing an uncertain future and struggling to identify a safe and sustainable solution.

Our situation is made more difficult by problems involving our Iranian passports and the lack of consular assistance we say we have received from Iranian authorities. These circumstances create additional obstacles as we try to understand our legal options and find a way forward.

We are deeply concerned about the possibility of returning to Iran without an adequate assessment of the risks associated with our political activities and personal circumstances.

We understand that asylum decisions are subject to legal procedures. However, we respectfully believe that our individual circumstances and the evidence of the risks we fear deserve careful and independent consideration.

We do not want our situation to be overlooked simply because our applications for protection have been rejected in Georgia.

Why I Am Speaking Out

I am sharing my story because I believe that people who fear persecution because of their political activities deserve the opportunity to have their circumstances examined fairly and independently.

I am not asking for special treatment or for anyone to disregard the law. I am asking for a meaningful opportunity to seek protection, access qualified legal assistance, and explore a safe and lawful future for myself and my husband.

Behind every rejected asylum application are human beings with individual histories, fears, and circumstances. For us, this is not merely an administrative or legal matter. It is about our safety, our dignity, and our ability to live without the constant fear of what may happen next.

Our Appeal to the International Community

I respectfully call upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), international human-rights organizations, relevant governments, humanitarian organizations, and representatives who support people at risk because of their political activities to:

Review our circumstances: Help us identify appropriate international protection mechanisms and access independent legal advice.

Assess the risks of return: Encourage a careful, individual assessment of the dangers we fear in Iran before any action that could expose us to serious harm.

Provide legal and humanitarian support: Help us understand our rights and access appropriate assistance while we remain in Georgia.

Explore safe and lawful solutions: Help us identify any available protection or relocation pathways for which we may be eligible.

Bring our situation to international attention: Help ensure that our circumstances and supporting evidence reach the organizations and decision-makers who may be able to assist us.

Please Help Us Find a Safe Future

I am raising my voice because I do not know where else to turn for meaningful support.

My husband and I are trying to find a way forward in circumstances that have left us feeling vulnerable and uncertain. We want the opportunity to live in safety, to have our situation examined fairly, and to build a future without the fear of persecution.

I respectfully ask you to sign and share this petition so that our story can reach people and organizations capable of reviewing our circumstances and helping us explore available options for protection.

Every signature and every responsible share can help bring our situation to the attention of those who may be able to make a difference.

Please stand with us in our search for safety, dignity, and a future free from the fear of persecution.
