HELP ALESSIA CARA TOUR WITH RADIOHEAD THIS NOVEMBER!

The issue

Dear Thom,

We affirm and recognise that you hold a very privileged position as a stalwart of the music industry. We recognise your tantamount role as being the voice for the voiceless, sometimes needing to say the unsayable which in many cases is the issues facing often smaller, unknown, overlooked artists.

Which is why Alessia Cara needs your help.

As a singer-songwriter and independent artist, Alessia Cara has been open and upfront and unafraid to speak about the difficulties of staying relevant in a music industry that is often dependant on streaming, numbers, and songs curated specifically for the algorithm. However, in recent months, it appears that she is being silenced in regards to talking about her relationship with her record label Def Jam, a company that has consistently refused to promote and market her since 2015, and it appears she is being silenced by their team and particular CEO Tunji Balogun.

This was brought into the public consciousness after she replied sarcastically to a tweet by the label passively replying to a fan's request for physical copies of the deluxe version of her new album, Love & Hyperbole, before deleting it in a state many fans interpreted as being withheld to speaking about her discontent around the label.

On behalf of Alessia Cara's dedicated fanbase, we request that, as a massive middle finger to her label and the music industry as a whole, Alessia opens for Radiohead in Bologna, starting on the 14th of November through to the final dates in Berlin. Her tour coincidentally ends on November 12 so we implore you not to ignore this amazing opportunity. Her voice is on a whole other level that you do not want to miss.

Alessia is a once-in-a-generation singular talent. Her self-deprecating humour and wisecrack stage performances give her a distinguishable image and glamour compared with other artists in her canon.

Even if due to circumstances that Radiohead is unable to go ahead with bringing Alessia on as an opener, we would strongly appreciate you and the band's consideration.

Regards,

Kanako
