Firstly, thank you to each and every one of you that has signed this petition; it has shown Kelly, Jennifer and myself just how many of you from our neighborhood, local businesses and the community support us in challenging the city of Beaverton to start taking preventative safety measures versus just being damage control. Please continue to share this petition with friends, family and neighbors.
We have made it onto the Beaverton Traffic Commission's meeting agenda, this is set for Thursday April 7th, 2022 at 7pm PST via zoom (I'll add the info to the bottom of this post). The public notice states that this will help the city decide to lower the speed limit on SW Barrows, from 35mph, to 30 mph. While this is not what we are ultimately aiming for (ie. crosswalk lights, traffic calming studies, etc.), getting on the agenda for the speed reduction allows us to all have a voice with the traffic commission and let them know our experiences as neighbors, family members and businesses that surround the roundabout.
Kelly, Jennifer and myself will be attending this meeting and we are requesting that you attend with us, if able to do so. Each person that can be present will be a voice of encouragement, even if you're uncomfortable actually speaking.
If you are unable to attend, you can still help by voicing your experiences at the roundabout in writing (whether by foot, bike or vehicle) and why you are in support of preventative safety measures. These can be emailed to mailboxengineering@beavertonoregon.gov and they will be forwarded onto the traffic commissioners prior to the meeting; feel free to cc or bcc us on this if you are comfortable doing so.
