Zoning Update

Today, as neighbors and allies, we came together to support the proposed development at 5150 N. Northwest Hwy before the city zoning committee. Many supporters offered personal perspectives on the ways that redevelopment will help our community. We sent the message that Jefferson Park will not tolerate racism and xenophobia, even when it is expressed by our neighbors. After hours of testimony, Alderman Ed Burke (14th Ward) exercised a rarely used procedural option to call for a quorum vote, which the committee did not have, and the committee adjourned without voting. No matter what happens next, we will be prepared. With your help we have already taken the first steps to bring affordable housing to Jefferson Park, and we know that together we can make this dream a reality.
