The POUA and St. Francis House propose to convert Charlestown's Constitution Inn into housing for the homeless to include Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) that does not require sobriety or treatment for active addiction, substance abuse and mental illness.

Medical professionals and hundreds of Charlestown residents have raised grave concerns about the proposal. They have questions about the suitability of the location, neighborhood safety, poor access to medical care, harm to those housed, financing, impact on local charities and more. City Councilors Murphy, Flaherty, and Coletta have spoken with skepticism and opposition. State Rep. Ryan called it a “bungled process” that should be "taken off the table indefinitely".

Therefore, the undersigned residents of Charlestown demand that City officials and stakeholders abandon this proposal and say “no” to any PSH in the neighborhood. After many meetings, surveys and email campaigns, our voice needs to be heard, loud and clear.
