LAST CHANCE to save “Lemnos St. Bush”!
Please Attend BUSH NOT BRICKS RALLY, Sunday March 25th, 11:00 am
Bring along your friends and family. Meet on the verge adjacent to “Lemnos St Bush” near the corner of Lemnos St. and Bedbrook Pl., Shenton Park. Bring signs.
“Lemnos St. Bush” , on the former Shenton Park Rehab Hospital site, must be saved! Let's get 200-300 people to attend the RALLY and make the government stand up and listen.
The Minister for Planning, Rita Saffioti, has yet to stop a terrible plan to clear over half of remnant bush on the west side of the site. LandCorp plans to clear 1.5 hectares of Banksia Jarrah Woodland, despite having over 10-11 hectares of cleared land available on the site to develop!
The government has ignored key state planning policies, the science and the community in this awful decision. They have even ignored advice from the EPA (Environmental Protection Authority) to “retain as much of the bushland as possible”.
What is worse? For over a year, the government has refused to provide their specific reasons as to why they have to clear any of the remnant bushland. They just keep repeating the same old rhetoric: “It’s been given due consideration and we need to reach infill targets and reduce bush fire risk.” Well! Their arguments are not only weak, they are false. They can achieve their infill targets, with safeguards in place, without clearing any of the bushland!
Its’ time for action!
Please come along and tell the government to:
- Say no to bad infill development!
- Say yes to a win-win option!
- Develop wisely and save the bush!
Please tell us you are coming to the BUSH NOT BRICKS RALLY by signing up on the facebook event. Then please share this event and this petition with everyone. This is a city wide issue!
Together we can save "Lemnos St Bush"!
