Thanks for supporting my petition. Two weeks ago I requested a meeting with the Premier, but have yet to receive an appointment. Could you please help spread the word by sharing the petition link with your friends? Or even better, call the Premier’s office and register your support to save the bushland T. 6552-5000. Only pressure on the Premier will save the bushland now. For over 3 years my friend, Lyn Jennings, and I have been fighting to save the bushland on the former hospital site in Shenton Park. What's worse is that we have been trying for over 6 months to obtain the detailed reasons as to why the bushland can't be saved in its entirety, to no avail. During the planning process, Landcorp has never explained why the bushland could not be saved and why no alternative plan showing this option was ever made available by Landcorp to the public in the consultation process. Landcorp's disclosed draft plans always sited development in the bushland and anticipated extensive bushland clearing. In her decision to approve the development plan, clearing more than 50% of the bushland, the Minister for Planning, Rita Saffioti, simply states that the matter has been given “due consideration”. Even after launching a formal complaint with the Department of Planning and asking assistance from the Ombudsman’s office to obtain the specific reasons, no detailed explanation was offered. Why has the Minister deviated from government policy, scientific expert advice and the wishes of the community who want this bushland saved? We deserve a fair and just answer! Call the Premier and demand answers. I’ll do the same. I’ll keep you posted……….
