Last night we rescued a hedgehog found injured by the roadside in our village just up the road from the proposed Overstrand Garden Centre housing development. He made it through the night at our local hedgehog rescue, Sheringham Hedgehog Hotel, but by morning it was clear something was terribly wrong.
He could only move one of his front legs and was desperately trying to drag himself around his rehab unit. Our local vet confirmed a severe spinal injury — almost certainly the result of being hit by a vehicle.
Despite his fight, his injuries were too serious.
This is the reality hedgehogs face every single night in the UK.
Not rare. Not unusual. Routine. And yet, they still don’t have the legal protection they urgently need.
We cannot keep losing them like this.
🛑 We need stronger legal protection for hedgehogs now.

🛑 We need action — not just sympathy.
