Patient campaigners and whistleblowers should never be hired to work in regulatory bodies. Why do I say this ? It is really because its impossible not to possess some kind of bias. I would say I was unfit to work for the GMC because of my history of conflict with them leading to an element of bias. This is unfair on the doctor and the Complainant. Similarly, I would be unfit for the CQC simply because I believe they are often work shy and lazy. It's staffed with some obnoxious people who believe they can talk down to the world. I have refused all invites to the CQC presentations because I would merely spend my time mocking them endlessly. I'm not unsure whether that's in the public interest at all. A few whistleblowers and campaigners have been hired by the CQC. There is Kim Holt of Patients First who associates with Cure the NHS. Cure the NHS were in litigation in Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust. The Trusts staff will be assessed by the CQC. Is the influence of these patient or whistleblowing groups going to give the hospital staff a fair assessment or not. Regulatory bodies should try to be free of all club organisations if possible to reduce bias. We said this about the GMCs nervous tick on freemasonry and scientology. They still slip one into the panels despite the obvious potential for bias. A interesting case is that of James Titcombe. A well known effective campaigner, he was poached by the CQC to potentially soften the threat of his campaign to the system. He was also given a OBE . One can speculate on why James got it and Steve Bolsin did not. The Conservatives arent stupid. They know how to buy people well. They have been buying people for years. It's clear fame, fortune, mixing with the starry elite is causing some dastardly problems in his paradise of dolls. It will be interesting to see what James does as I once told him reality would hit him soon enough. In the poaching of campaigners to integrate them into the establishment, I often wonder where the tenet of equal opportunities lies in the employment world. James managed to walk into his CQC job with little or limited experience in NHS safety issues. I often wonder how fair or biased he was in certain cases. We will never know ofcourse as we live in a environment where neutralisation of challengers to the state machinery by handing out jobs, accolades and large salaries is leading to an unfair bias in the decision making process.
