When good old Rob Francis QC [ dubbed as El Gov's safe pair of hands] came up with the idea of NHS Guardians to baby-sit whistleblowers, I was rather amused. Here we have a state where the Guardian is paid by the NHS to baby-sit the whistleblower. Who on earth believes these people in positions of power will actually do anything constructive for a legitimate whistleblower. Has anyone done any research on this aspect of whistleblower baby-sitting or was this just one of those ideas plucked out of the thin air to make it worth while to waste the tax payers cash on the Freedom to Speak Up Review [ so the DH can harvest all the whistleblowers data]. What will the DH do with whistleblower's data? Can the DH be trusted? That is the real question. Does everyone know that the DH character assassinates whistleblowers via their own contacts. I know this possibly because I have seen the documents on me moving to and fro from the Director of Public Health to the Department of Health. Its almost party-time for these guys who gossip on tax payers money as if they are writing some kind of medical "Hello" magazine.
Anyway, here is an interesting article to read on NHS Guardians http://theconversation.com/nhs-guardians-wont-help-whistleblowers-unless-theyre-protected-from-bullying-too-37543 .
I guess when the DH decides that their million studies on the causation of bullying etc aren't working, they will get another pointless Tsar bit like the Tsar of Patient Safety. He admitted to me he had no powers to do anything about patient safety. Here is Mike Durkin justifying his position has ruling Tsar of patient safety.
"I am afraid that I don’t hold powers to investigate, and in similar cases, it is for the provider and local commissioners to instigate an independent investigation"
Now that is irony.
Russia once has Tsars, now the Department of Health has Tsars. I wonder if the two have anything in common? The NHS has lots of Tsars. I guess they sit up there on their thrones looking pretty while hard working staff struggle under oppressive regimes and patients die. Well, thats a good use of tax payers money isn't it. Maybe if these Tsars were all fired, the money could be spent on patient care. Now that is a radical thought.
