Dear Supporters, Thank you for joining us in supporting Professor Tim Noakes and his courageous, hard-fought battle to stand up for the science in the face of baseless charges that have dragged on for years now. We have achieved a stunning 37,700+ signatures in just two weeks (the vast majority in just one week!). Noakes told News24 that he was "really thankful" to all of us who signed this petition. As we all know, the case against Prof. Noakes hinged upon the fact that his low-carb dietary advice is not part of official dietary guidelines-- in particular those in the U.S., which were cited by S. African authorities as the "gold standard." Friends, we are now at a unique moment in history where we actually have an opportunity to reform those guidelines--and we are asking for your help. Just last week The US government announced that for the next iteration of those guidelines, in 2020, it will focus on selective topics that need to be reviewed in light of updated science. This list of topics--incredibly--includes both the low-carbohydrate diet and saturated fats, The USDA has asked for public comments on these topics. Please submit yours! The deadline is just a few weeks away--March 30th. You can be sure that Guideline defenders will be commenting en masse, so our views need to be represented as well. Please participate by clicking the attached link! https://www.nutritioncoalition.us/2018/03/06/how-to-submit-a-public-comment-on-the-dietary-guidelines/ In addition, you can: Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates on nutrition science and our work in Washington, D.C. to reform the guidelines. https://www.nutritioncoalition.us/about-us/newsletter-sign-up/ Donate to The Nutrition Coalition to help us continue this important work. (Note: Sadly, any donation you made through the petition goes to Change.org and is not given to us). The Nutrition Coalition accepts no funds or support from any interested industry for our work, so we depend on contributions from people like you to continue our work, standing up for the science, purely in the interest of the public health. https://www.nutritioncoalition.us/donate/ We are all hoping for a fair and just outcome in the Noakes hearing. Our thanks, again, for your help in supporting him! All our best, Dr. Sarah Hallberg Medical Director, Medically Supervised Weight Loss, Indiana University School of Medicine Scientific Council Director, The Nutrition Coalition On behalf of all the original MD signers of the petition Note: The Nutrition Coalition helped support this petition because our group aims to ensure that US nutrition guidelines are evidence-based, and we oppose the persecution of scientists/doctors for simply speaking out about the science.
