Bank staff should be trained to take advanced security measures in protecting our data ! Our information as customers should be stored securely and only relevant people should have access to it particularly in the case of NRO/NRE accounts . 

Unfortunately, HDFC staff does not give importance to our security and violates our privacy by demanding information more than required for Re-KYC ! They let everyone have easy access to sensitive documents of customers during Re-KYC/ Extended KYC which can jeopardize our security ! 

In the name of Re-KYC they are already gathering so much information about customers and then they make it worse by not handling that information correctly. An example would be when recently one of their employees shared a customer’s SSN in its entirety through email and copied some others on it. That was violation of privacy . Some of the numbers of SSN could have been masked. They do the same when handling Customer IDs and account numbers . I had raised this concern in my recent virtual meeting with their Branch Manager and other Heads and suggested that they should follow some security protocols to keep information and accounts of customers safe .  But it appears that it had no impact on them or they are not effective enough in training their teams ! 

There should be a central secure channel or govt. website through which customers could submit Re-KYC documents instead of giving it to each and every  bank or financial institution every time ! That way the Re-KYC process will be uniform, smooth and secure !
