Broadcast Game of Thrones in the UK at the same time as the rest of the world

This petition asks that Sky Atlantic (HBO) reconsider plans to exclude the UK from worldwide simultaneous broadcasts of Game of Thrones.

HBO's effort to combat piracy has resulted in the decision to broadcast the latest season of Game of Thrones simultaneously around the world. Season 5 of the popular fantasy TV series will be simulcast in over 170 countries - however, the United Kingdom will not be receiving the same treatment.

British fans will have to wait 19 hours longer than the rest of the world to see the series which is infamous for its rampant spoilers. Sky Atlantic confirmed the 9pm screening on their Twitter, citing that it would allow fans to "watch, enjoy and discuss the show together."

Sorry to inform you Sky, but people will just torrent the show online instead and bypass your network. We're not going to enjoy the show at the same time as the rest of the fans. Our social networks will be littered with plot details and character deaths from the night before.

Half a million people watched the premiere of season 4's first episode 'Two Swords' when it was broadcast last year at the same time as the US. The remaining 9 episodes were not simulcast (for unknown reasons).

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular TV shows ever made. Filming takes place in Northern Ireland, British talent fills the cast and the production benefits from UK tax credit. Yet we have to wait longer than anyone else - Where is the logic in that?
