For several years now the state of Hawaii has been promising to end wild animal act imports, and recently the Hawaii Board of Agriculture approved a proposed rule change to prohibit the import of certain "dangerous wild animal" (elephant, tiger, and bear) acts. Hawaii Governor David Ige has pledged to make the circus ban a reality, but no real legislation has been passed as of yet. What is Hawaii waiting for?

All animals, especially elephants, suffer terribly in the circus industry. They lead lives of sadness, constant fear, and despair. So far Illinois and New York are the only states in the U.S. that have passed legislation to ban the use of elephants in the circus.

Just recently the U.S. state of New Jersey became the first in the entire country to completely ban the use of all exotic animals in the circus. Will Hawaii follow New Jersey's example?
