The problem is that real learning has been short changed in Hawaii because of federal mandates for high stakes testing. It has forced teachers to teach to mandated math and reading curricula.  It has forced administrators to eliminate PE, music, art, project based learning - REAL LEARNING- from our classrooms.  However, ESSA law is giving Hawaii a chance to make a change for the BEST.  And we only have a few months to give our feedback to our BOE and our Hawaii Governor.  The DOE and BOE have till December 2016 to hand in a final draft proposal to our federal government of how our schools should look. So, we must act now.  Please sign this petition, if you are in favor of REAL learning for our keiki:  no more high stakes testing and MORE art, music, PE, project based learning.  We will send this petition in by May 1.  Let our voices be heard.
