The Village of Haverstraw, NY is at a critical juncture. Over the past eighteen months, in collaboration with the village and community, we have accomplished nearly all of the approvals needed to revitalize Haverstraw's waterfront and downtown. We are working towards finalizing a PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) agreement. The PILOT agreement is an essential tool to fund and facilitate the project's affordable housing initiatives, inclusive of housing for our veterans (70 percent of the units are at different levels of affordability). This will enhance the community's accessibility and inclusivity for retention of youth and stability for our seniors.

Workforce housing is necessary for many families in our community. A PILOT agreement would provide the necessary subsidy to address this issue head-on.  This is not just a step forward for affordable housing in Haverstraw, but for the village with new retail locations and outdoor spaces, including a 4+ acre waterfront park system.
