Well tonight we reached a milestone. In spite of our target being raised, more than 75,000 people have now demonstrated their support and signed Zack’s petition! Thank you all. We never imagined that the campaign would take off in such a huge way. (Incidentally, if any of you would prefer not to receive these regular updates by email, then you can click to ‘unsubscribe’ to this service which is provided by www.change.org as Zack does not have the facility to remove recipients from the mailing. Only one person out of the 75,059 has actually asked to do this, but of course you’re free to do so if you’re tired of hearing about the progress of Zack’s campaign!) Today started with a rather busy morning, getting ready for an appointment with one of Zack’s consultants at Royal Preston Hospital. Those of you who follow us on Twitter may have already seen our rant about the lack of parking spaces at the hospital, let alone the desperate lack of disabled parking spaces anywhere near a building where almost all of the visiting patients are wheelchair users! And then, when Zack needed to be freshened up, there was of course, no Changing Place anywhere at the hospital! Hard to believe, maybe, but yet another failure this time by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust. Anyway, we’re looking forward to tomorrow. An early start meeting with a representative from ‘Mobiloo’ who’s bringing one of their brand new ‘Vehicles for Change’ to an event near us! Mobiloo have been incredibly supportive of Zack’s campaign right from the start and it’s great that we can support them too, with both of us working towards the same goals of full accessibility for all. And then, it’s off to North Yorkshire for a concert in the ancient monastic ruins of Fountains Abbey. It’s rather ironic that an early 12th Century can be made accessible for all visitors when 21st Century hospitals can’t provide accessible toilets! More tomorrow.
