Well 5 weeks have now past since Zack launched his campaign and we continue to be impressed by the tremendous support he is receiving, but also frustrated by how many people remain in ignorance of the need for these basic facilities. Last night Zack was the 2nd celebrity in the building when Honley Male Voice Choir performed in concert with their special guest Nicholas McCarthy. Zack was delighted to meet Nicholas and get a signed CD from him but he was also really pleased that Steven, the Musical Director, gave his campaign great publicity during the concert. Lots of people came to speak to Zack and his family, many signed his petition there and then on Zack's iPad and others took away information, business cards, posters and bought car stickers. We were also pleased to be able to support and promote the work of 'Mobiloo' http://mobiloo.org.uk and played a short film on Zack's stand explaining their work which echoes that of Zack's motorway services campaign. Thanks again to all the fellas at Honley Male Voice Choir www.honleymvc.co.uk for their support and interest. And thanks to Nicholas! It was great to meet you and your piano playing was amazing to watch and hear. (Find out more about Nicholas at http://nicholasmccarthy.co.uk/ ) We also manage data to squeeze in a visit to the Lego Discovery Cente at Manchester's Trafford Centre, with Zack's brother and his friend. Although there was good wheelchair access at Lego, there was no accessible changing room. We met with a couple of other families with children and young adults who are wheelchair users and gave them all one of Zack's campaign business cards. One mum, who knew Zack from Derian House in Chorley, told Zack that she asked where she could change her teenage daughter and she was initially directed to the 'baby changing room'. When she explained that the room and the table were not large enough she was given a sheet and shown to a corridor where she could use the floor. It's sad, but this is normal. In fact, this was better than usual as at least she was offered a clean sheet to put on the floor! So the campaign continues and this week we have more articles and updates to write. It would be great to reach 50,000 soon so please continue to share my story with your colleagues, friends and family. Have a great week! Zack
