**We are reposting the update from Sept 3rd below as we were advised that it was unable to be delivered to all the campaign followers previously**
7 SEP 2017 - Another busy day and the campaign continues to gain wider support. I had a very good chat with my friends from Mobiloo earlier today and we are so glad to be able to support each other's campaigns as we work together for the same outcome... accessible toilet and changing facilities for everyone, WHEREVER we travel!
The Principal and staff at my old college, Beaumont College, in Lancaster have now returned after the summer holiday and they are also supporting and sharing my campaign news on Facebook, which is great! Thanks guys!
And I've also been asked to contribute some reviews to www.accessadvisr.net about facilities for disabled and wheelchair users. It's all raising great awareness of the need for Changing Places!
Orders for car stickers keep coming. Don't forget to contact 'Dionne Vinylmaid Sparkes' on Facebook or email dionnesparkes@outlook.com with your request. :)
3 SEP 2017 — As children and young people enjoyed the final day of their summer holidays, before the return to school tomorrow, Zack was once again out and about campaigning, only this time he got into a spot of bother and Merseyside Police caught up with him at Aintree Golf Course!! We thought he had 'disturbed the peace' once too often and was being arrested for anti-social behaviour, harassing crowds with his campaign business cards, but actually, the police sergeant just wanted to take Zack for a 100mph spin around the track in his BMW with blues and twos flashing and blaring out! Those of you who know Zack will understand how excited he was with this experience! His younger brother joined in the fun and one of the other drivers took him for a spin in his Aston Martin and told him that he recognised Zack from the news report and had signed and shared his campaign! So the word has spread around Merseyside too! Thanks to Max and all at 'Sporting Bears Motor Club' for the great 'Dream Rides' (www.sportingbears.co.uk) event and to Mel and Zoe at Derian House for inviting us all and for sharing and supporting Zack's Changing Places campaign.
We've got a busy week ahead at Campaign HQ, with more sticker and t-shirt orders, writing some more press articles and preparing some publicity materials for the concert stand next Saturday.
Before we sign off, how many of you saw Moto's Tweet this afternoon advertising that they have charging points at their service stations for electric cars. I did a little research and it is estimated that at the end of July 2017 there were 107,000 electric cars in the U.K. There are however over 260,000 disabled adults and children in the U.K. all of whom would benefit from use of an accessible toilet and Changing Place at every motorway service station. So I couldn't resist replying to their tweet suggesting that maybe basic human need should come before provision for electric cars. I don't know about you, but I've yet to see a car plugged in and charging up at a motorway services. However, I have seen many wheelchair users, disabled adults and children and others with mobility issues who would benefit hugely from a Changing Place every single day.
If you use Twitter (and I didn't do so very much before the launch of Zack's campaign!) then please follow Moto, RoadChef and Welcome Break and start retweeting Zack's updates to them and sharing your concerns as you have with us. Over 43,000 and still growing. They have to start taking notice soon!
Night, night from all at Zack's Campaign HQ.
