The dominance of football for instance: Arsene Wenger, who was Arsenal manager for 22 years, believes other major European leagues are the likely winners due to the implications of the UK leaving the European Union.

Wenger, quoted at the virtual Golden Coach Congress, said Brexit could leave the English top flight playing catch-up if the influx of top foreign players in English football is jeopardised.

“Today the Premier League depends on worldwide exposure, with the best players and worldwide ownership with multi-billion owners from around the world.”

“Will people inside Europe be considered as foreign players who cannot play in the English Premier League? I don’t know. But if the rules are restrictive, they will kill the superiority of the Premier League.”
