The poll for the Independent newspaper showed significant movement away from Brexit but talked about a 'soft' Brexit so as to end up like Switzerland or Norway. I live in Switzerland and it is in a very different situation to UK also much richer, but only 10% of UK population (it also has one of, if not the, highest immigrant population as a % of its population in the world). Also Norway didnt throw its oil wealth away and now has an Oil Fund worth one million dollars for each citizen. Neither the Norway nor the Swiss solution would work for UK and, in any case, both countries have zero say over EU policy to their frustration. The EU needs the UK more for political, military and the once honoured sense it had. But the EU wont accept UK at any cost. The best solution is for UK to revoke its letter on Article 50, play a big part as an important EU member and also sort out its rapidly falling economy and social care!
