Harsher sentencing for child grooming, abuse and trafficking

The Issue

PROTECT OUR CHILDREN.

Child trafficking and abuse are rampant. The sentences given to offenders pale in comparison to the lifelong trauma inflicted on their victims and families.

With recent and historic events of prominent figures in the media receiving little or no prison time for their actions, it sends a dangerous message that can normalize and perpetuate abuse, especially towards children. It's crucial to hold individuals, regardless of their status, accountable for their behavior to protect the vulnerable in our society.

We must demand stricter sentencing to protect our children and society. The authorities must act now, reflecting the outcry of millions who seek justice and safety for the most vulnerable among us. It's time to set a new standard and ensure that those who harm our children face the full weight of the law.

A suicide poem written by a beautiful girl who was abused, that poignantly captures the harm inflicted:

"I wish that God could rescue me,

From this sorrow, hurt and insecurity,

I want to be with the angels, be at peace,

Somewhere no harm can come or reach.

He was meant to protect me, not to harm,

Now he's given me scars up my arm,

If only he could turn around and see me cry,

Maybe he would question what he did and why,

Spending time on my own hurts so much,

I can still feel the way he forcefully touched,

What did I do, what did I do wrong,

To be abused for so very long?

It is all connected to the past, that's why I feel this pain,

And part of me still hasn't got over that I feel to blame,

So God, please help those children, the children being abused,

Their innocent little faces,

their bodies being used,

God I cry out to you, I beg upon one knee,

Take my soul instead and set those children free.

Maybe I could hang myself and end it all tonight,

At heaven's gate I will knock, no longer need to fight."
