Over the last few years we have seen more and more HGV's regularly using our narrow street to access the industrial estate. Businesses have been allowed to open up in units that require this type of heavy goods vehicle without the appropriate planning permission, or any consideration of the space required to maneuver these vehicles safely, or the impact that this will have on the residents of the street and parents and children from the school who use our street. In fact, Planning and Highways own documents make clear they are aware how dangerous this is. Now their solution is to remove up to 30 residents and visitors parking spaces to facilitate the manoeuvring of these HGVs. If we allow this to continue then we are sure there will be a serious, possibly fatal accident. The road has already collapsed once because of the weight of the HGVs. We must put a stop to this now and make North Yorkshire County Council take responsibility and implement the appropriate planning permission for businesses to onlyuse lighter vehicles and with a much lighter impact upon the surrounding residential area. This situation is insane, please help us put a stop to it and make our street safe again.
