This is a message from Joe - officer Joe as my daughter Krista refers to him - as I’m sure many others do as well. Thank you all for signing and Thank you Scott Renda for sharing with us that our support was needed ❤️

I took this off Joe Parrello FB Scott Renda

I've sat back recently and tried to think of something to write and express how I have felt over the last few weeks. So I’ll give it a try. Growing up We moved a lot, more than most people could possibly imagine. As a kid who went to 4 different school districts and lived in 13 different houses by the time I was 20 I didn’t understand why it happened, it was just what we did. It wasn’t until 2001 when I lived in California that my perspective & understanding changed. I was working in LA waiting tables like every other aspiring actor at a restaurant called Islands. I had been working there for just a few months when 9/11 happened & I decided to move back home to become a police officer. The restaurant that originally did t want to hire me because I was from NY threw me a little going away party and I remember getting a bunch of cards from the staff. One card from the bartender Helen spoke about her believing that the reason I moved around so much was god trying to put me in as many peoples lives as possible. I was blown away. To this day that is still one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. I took her words to heart & I honestly try to live my life every day to positively impact as many people as possible. Now, I’m far from perfect but the effort & intention is there. It’s right below in the principles of how I live my life. Help people & Be kind, not because you want something in return but because it’s the right thing to do. I always tell my kids if you do good things it will always come back to you. Over the last two weeks they & I watched those words become reality. The overwhelming support & kind words that I received left me speechless. I’m humbled and so very grateful for every single person who shared a story, texted, called, signed a petition, wrote an email or who just showed support. I honestly cannot express my gratitude in words so I’ll just simply say Thank You. Legacy is a very important word to me & I promise the one I leave behind will not be easily forgotten❤️
