A member of NMCwatch was thrilled last month having undergone a hearing to be found with no impairment at the end of it and no subsequent sanction
This ended a difficult time but one where she had worked hard to address issues in her own health and assure her work that she as moving forward positively. She had a support plan in place at work and receiving this outcome from NMC was the positive end that would enable her to continue to. move forward.
Imagine her distress when Friday afternoon she receives an email stating that her interim order is due to be extended and this will have to involve an application to the high court to do so
We, as her reps, reassured her that this was no more than an admin error, the previous Interim order that was in place up to her hearing not being administratively stopped when her hearing concluded
BUT we would expect better from our regulator
If this registrant didn't have support this could quite easily have set her back and caused immense stress
We have raised this with the NMC to unpick what has happened.
A professional organisation that was invested in ensuring efficiency and robust governance would not allow this to happen. However we hear from many registrants telling us of similar stories....
"They just don't seem to care"
"It's like they enjoy causing us distress"
" I feel like if they can't harm us one way, through sanctions, they will do it by the way they treat us - it's disgusting, I've lost all respect for them"
"If I was as careless with patient's notes I would expect to be disciplined and yet the NMC just seem to get away with the mistakes time and time again"
