WE CARRY ON!!!!
Chebacco Hill Capital Partners (CHCP) continues to keep their purchase rights on 133 Essex “Under Agreement.” This indicates that there is a strong possibility that they will strike again. It could be another cluster housing project, 40B housing, or a sub-division. It is hard to know at this point, but one thing is certain: “It ain’t over.”
For those of you who attended the Planning Board meetings, you will recall that in every presentation, they always mentioned the sub-division plan as an alternative to cluster housing. Even if CHCP folds its tent, it’s safe to assume that the Rich family, which owns the land, will attempt a subdivision.
To be clear, all this posturing by the landowner and developer has not diluted the desires of a land trust to protect this land. All parties know that the option is cued up and ready to go. Unfortunately, the landowner and developer are not interested.
In order for this land to ultimately be protected, we (as in all of us) need to work together to continue to disrupt their plans. We do that by pointing out the foibles of their plans, as we have done successfully thus far. That requires all of us to stay active, talk to friends and neighbors, and support our work. SCT&W is a business with monthly expenses like any other business, plus the cost of attorneys and experts when the next proposal goes before the town. These costs are many thousands of dollars, plus all our “lawn signs” have been stolen, which will cost another $1000 to replace.
133 Essex will eventually become part of a land trust when all the development options are exhausted. Until then, it ain't over but we WILL CARRY ON!
MANY THANKS
Your friends at SCT&W
